    Product description

Alex Sibanda’s abstract and characterful rhino sculpture is inspired by the golden rhinoceros of Mapungubwe. Painter Relebohile Tjakata has embellished with interlocking and overlapping circular forms suggestive of the interconnectedness of lifeforms. The design is also reminiscent of chainmail, symbolic of protecting the species against the threats of poaching that have made rhinos so vulnerable. Tjakata’s distinctive patterns echo throughout the body of the rhino, interspersed with other scaled and feathered tessellations, and the iconic Ardmore tortoise shell design.
