Elephant Sweet Dish
The life-like detail in this sculpture of the elephant and the plant he carries on his back highlights the sculptor's skill and his ability to mimic nature. The intricate detail in the creation of the elephant, from his hide to the callouses on his knees, is made more apparent by comparison with the simply formed monkeys which clamber around the plant and up the elephants trunk. In keeping with the feel of the piece, the artist has used a muted colour palette of greys, green and white but his addition of leopard print on the plant and the elephant's tusks and toes gives the piece its distinctive Ardmore character.
