    Product description

Abraham Mofokeng’s pair of sculpted pangolins eloquently capture the inherent beauty and simplicity of these elusive mammals, coveted for their scales in Eastern cultures. The scales, believed to possess medicinal properties, contribute to the unfortunate status of pangolins as the most trafficked mammals in Africa.

Sbu Mbatha, has skilfully enhanced Abraham’s sculptures by intricately patterning the insides of the tails and faces. However, they have maintained the textured scales in white clay, paying homage to Abraham’s timeless craftsmanship. Abraham’s dedication is evident in the hand-modelled, petal-like scales, each added with precision to accentuate the pangolin’s form.

Made by Abraham Mofokeng and painted by  Sbu Mbatha
