Mama Africa Sculpture
This Mama Africa sculpture is a celebration of the strength and grace of women. The lifelike sculpture by Bennet Zondo has a woman carrying a child on her back, tied in the traditional Zulu way, under a blanket, close to his mother.
The woman carries a bag that has been decorated in vibrant orange by Alan Ndlovu and the mask nods to the adjustments which we have all had to make in the past year. The intricate detailing and colour of the bead strings which decorate the woman contrast the dark colour of the sculpture and bring it to life.
