Ntshalintshali - A Legacy Continued

Ntshalintshali - A Legacy Continued

A Legacy Exhibition

Ardmore and EBONY/CURATED are delighted to present Ntshalintshali, a special exhibition celebrating the artistic legacy of the remarkable Bonnie Ntshalintshali and the family members who continue her tradition of creativity, storytelling and craftsmanship.

Opening on 4 July 2026 at EBONY/CURATED, Bordeaux House, Franschhoek, the exhibition brings together works by Bonnie's son, Senzo Ntshalintshali, and her nephews, Somandla Ntshalintshali and Slulamile Mlambo. Together, their sculptures honour a family lineage that has become an integral part of Ardmore's artistic history.

Bonnie Ntshalintshali was one of Ardmore's founding artists and a pioneering creative force whose work helped establish the distinctive visual language for which Ardmore is celebrated around the world today. Her influence continues to resonate through generations of artists who have inherited not only technical skill, but also a profound understanding of storytelling through clay.

The exhibition showcases a collection of extraordinary ceramic sculptures ranging from monumental crocodiles and symbolic vessels to intricate depictions of pangolins, birds and imagined creatures. Rich in narrative and craftsmanship, each work reflects the artists' individual voices while remaining deeply connected to the traditions, symbolism and creative spirit that Bonnie helped establish.

At its heart, Ntshalintshali is a celebration of continuity  of knowledge passed from one generation to the next, of family bonds strengthened through shared creativity, and of a legacy that continues to evolve while remaining rooted in its origins.

We invite collectors and visitors to experience this remarkable body of work and to discover the stories, symbolism and exceptional artistry that define the Ntshalintshali family legacy.
