Nirah Zondi
Nirah's interest in art began during her primary school years and has continued to grow ever since. She is particularly inspired by the beauty of Africa, drawing creative influence from the landscapes, culture and natural world around her. Her connection to Ardmore began at an early age, as her mother worked at the studio in 2012. Her interest was strengthened further when her school organised a visit to Ardmore for students with a passion for art, giving Nirah the opportunity to experience the studio and its artists firsthand.
Among the artists who inspire her, Nirah particularly admires Victor Mtshali, whose work and artistic ability have encouraged her own creative ambitions. Nirah is committed to developing as an artist, learning from the artists and experiences around her while continually refining her skills.
Nirah's passion for Ardmore grew during Grade 10, when she eagerly attended every school holiday art class she could. Her natural talent for fine art, beautiful use of colour and delicate linework soon caught the attention of the Ardmore team. Upon completing her matric year, she was invited to join the studio as an artist. With no space available in the painting studio, Nirah embraced the opportunity to explore sculpture instead.
From her very first day, she demonstrated remarkable talent and creative ability. Her sculptures are finely detailed, with an impressive understanding of proportion and movement that brings each creation to life. With her dedication and natural artistic flair, Nirah has a promising future as an Ardmore artist.
