Sthombe has known Ardmore since childhood through Punch, one of Ardmore’s longest-standing artists, who has worked alongside founder Fée Halsted since 1989. Growing up with such a close connection to the studio and its creative world, Sthombe joined Ardmore eager to expand her artistic knowledge and develop a style of her own.

She credits her mother, Punch, alongside Nondumiso and Siyabonga Mabaso, as important mentors in her artistic journey. Inspired by cooking, comedy films and family, Sthombe’s work reflects warmth, joy and a growing confidence in pattern and colour.

As the daughter of one of Ardmore’s longest-standing painters, Sthombe has a natural talent for creating beautiful ceramic artworks, skilfully combining intricate patterns with expressive realism. Her joyful, vibrant use of colour and delicate patterned detailing bring out the beauty and character of each ceramic piece she paints, reflecting both her creative heritage and her own developing artistic style.
